Oh hey, 2014.

Saturday, July 12, 2014

It's no surprise that I've been a terrible blogger.  I can't help it--life is good and exciting and just moving so quickly! I'm ready to jump into this blogging thing, so I'd better start by catching up with a few big deal moments so far this year...

I've finished my second year of teaching kindergarten and learned I'll be teaching 5th grade next year. If you want, you can read more about this at my teacher blog.

I picked up skateboarding and guitar. Why?  See this post.

Adam proposed to me in a park we went to for one of our first dates many, many years ago. (And I accepted, of course!)

Adam's print shop had a makeover--new name & location.

I went to my high school's 10 year reunion... it wasn't so bad.

Ok.  So here goes.  2014 will be the year of blogging. Procrastination stagnation is over!

Hello, friends!

Friday, July 12, 2013

Sorry for the long hiatus--I am pleased (and a little sad) to share that I finished up my first exciting year of teaching kindergarten!  I have so much I'd like to share.  My plan is to update quite a bit during the summer (now that I have some free time).    During the summers, I work with my other half at his screen printing and design business, BSI Prints. I also do some private tutoring and look around for new ideas for the next school year. There are many great things I want to write about this summer, so check back soon. :)

Instagram's Web Browser Update

Tuesday, June 25, 2013

I have to say that I was hooked on Instagram when I first read about it in 2010, and my interest in it hasn't waned since Facebook acquired it in 2012 and said they weren't going to change a thing (well, sort of).  After this past week's recent change to include video sharing, I have to say... I just don't know how I feel about it, yet.  I've seen some really incredible 15-second videos, and I've seen some that make me cringe a little.  I guess it'll just take some getting used to.  (Sorry, Vine!)

One thing I do like, and had e-mailed the original IG developers a few times about, is the web-browser profile.  I'm so glad FB made this change!  Look at how pretty it is:

I especially love this feature because it showcases years of memories.  I can also save the images so that I can play with them in photoshop or print them for special projects, like a photo wall or something.  The possibilities are endless!

Thanks, IG!

Just Another Day at the Shop

Monday, June 24, 2013

I'm helping out at Adam's shop today--things have been pretty busy!  The guys are printing an order for the Port Saint John All Stars Baseball team.  I get asked quite often about what goes into getting a t-shirt custom printed.  It's not as simple as running a shirt through a printing machine.  There are quite a few steps! From designing the logo to pulling the finished product from the dryer it can take up to a few days, depending on the complexity of the design, placement, and materials.

Things can also get pretty messy!  You've got to be able to handle getting a little sweaty, too.
